An informative visit to Hafele Studio was conducted by IITC Mumbai, on 3rd FEB 2018 for their Interior Designing students where the students learnt about the specialized products and fittings available by the leading brand Hafele. It was quite an insightful visit where the budding interior designers were informed about the applications and use of the various fittings.
Interior Designing Students of IITC Ahmedabad went for the Heritage Walk as part of their course curriculum.
Heritage Walk is an experience to walk through the 'Walled City' AHMEDABAD declared as Heritage city by UNESCO. The walk commences from the early 19th century Swaminarayan temple Kalupur, encompasses 20 main spots besides numerous areas and aspects of the old city and concludes at the famous 15th century Jama Masjid. Hence the Walk is popularly known as the journey of 'Mandir to Masjid'. It truly observes the nature of its rich and varied architecture, its art, religious places, its culture and traditions.
The objective of the site visit was to understand the various cultures and get an insight on how to apply them for different phases of designing projects.
Industries was conducted by IITC Mumbai for the Interior Designing Students where the students learned various techniques in making murals and various applications of paints using leftover material to create interesting and cost-effective items such as lamp shades and wall art. It was indeed an interesting workshop which was quite insightful and enjoyable for the students.
IITC Mumbai in association with Pidilite Industries Ltd., Fevicryl conducted a Fashion & Accessory Creative Art Workshop for their students of Fashion Designing & Accessory Designing department on 15th December 2017.
In the practical workshop, Shoe painting, Thewa Jewellery making, soft acrylic colors painting techniques on tank top, Tie & Dye effect, ikat effect etc. was covered by the experts from the industry. It was a wonderful learning experience for all IITC students. They found it very interesting & thoroughly enjoyed it.
An industrial visit focusing Fabric Development & Manufacturing was organized for Fashion Designing students of IITC Mumbai at various Manufacturing units & Export houses in Bhiwandi on 11th November 2017.
The aim of this visit was to develop a practical understanding of all core elements & processes involved in Apparel Manufacturing & Development.
This one-day industrial visit helped the students practically understand the process & each of them got a chance to have hands-on experience of the various structures in Fabric Making Power Loom, Dying Unit, Computerised Machine Embroidery Unit, Garment Cutting & Stitching Unit & Zipper Manufacturing Unit.
Overall, each student gained a good practical exposure on the Apparel Product Development process with all the implications and opportunities.
A workshop was conducted for Fashion Designing students of IITC Mumbai imparting knowledge on Natural & Chemical Dyes with a practical demonstration on placement of different types of Blocks on different fabrics.

As a part of their course curriculum, Fashion Designing students of IITC participated in a distinctive opportunity of a field visit to a garment manufacturing workshop of Shreeji Boutique at Infocity, Gandhinagar & were introduced to Basic garment construction principles and techniques such as garment appreciation, piping, frills, potli button, different type of stitches, pintucks, pleats, invisible zippers, patterns with elastics, layers etc. by the karigars there.
IITC has organized an Inter-Active Seminar & Practical Workshop on Fashion Styling, Hair & Make-Up on 6th September 2017 at Hotel Leela, Andheri, Sahar, as a part of the Co-curricular activities of their Fashion Designing Course.
The speakers for the seminar are ASHLEY REBELLO, a renowned Costume Designer & Fashion Stylist along with OJAS RAJANI- Hair Stylist & Makeup Artist.
Entry for the event is only for IITC Fashion Designing students and by invitation only.

An intensive & enriching study tour was organized for our Fashion Designing students to Kutch on 25th and 26th Feb 2017.
IITC gave an opportunity to their Students to experience the rich and diverse creative traditions of Kutch which live at the intersection of cultures and communities & have been playing a major role in our FASHION INDUSTRY.
The students explored the splendid creation of beautiful geometrical designs of Rogan Art, Ajrakh block printing techniques at Ajrakhpur, the amazing weaving techniques at KHAMIR Craft Resource Centre, the magnificent White Desert of Kutch and the best example of Art, Crafts and Craftsmanship of artisans decorated with bright & rich colors of embroideries, fabrics, leather articles, paintings, bell art, Bandhani etc. at Hiralaxmi Memorial Craft Park, Bhujodi.
The students worked closely with local artisans and were very happy and felt enriched with the realistic experience & will be expected to document their learning’s as a part of their Fashion Designing course curriculum at IITC.
Indeed, Jewellery has the power to be that one little thing that can make you feel Unique.

Monisha Doley, Miss Ethnic India 2015 and the author of Amazon best selling book “Get High on Spirit” motivated the Fashion Designing students of IITC with her views and ideas on confidence building. Monisha Doley is also a well known motivational & personality development speaker, life coach and also has worked as an air hostess with Qatar airways and Kingfisher Airlines
Her interaction with students helped them to understand better of corporate world & how it functions. She also guided the students on the final aspects of presentation skills, which covered grooming, etiquettes and hygiene. Monisha also gave tips on how to be successful in the fashion industry.
